Web based digital recording and evaluation system was introduced for the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

Introduction

The Department of Accountancy (DoA) is one of the five departments in the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, The vision of the department is to make the
Accountancy programme, the first choice among the students and stakeholders. The
mission of the department is to advance Accountancy education through Bachelor of
Business Management (Special) Accountancy degree which provides outstanding
Accounting and management education for students, create and disseminate
knowledge, promote the understanding and ethical practice of Accountancy profession
and serve the community.

As over 1000 undergraduates are studying under the department, they tend to implement a software solution for managing the digital records of internship students in a hassle free manner.

The solution has developed using latest web development technologies;

Content Management System – Joomla 3.x
Web application – PHP 7.x
Database – MySQL

Quality of the application was maintained using best practices, adhering to industrial coding standards and regular quality checks. Dedicated team of quality assurance engineers were involved in quality checks where TestLink and Bugzilla were used for monitoring and recording purposes. At the end of each module, Test report was produced along with test cases, test cycles and bug reports.
